Our Beach Trip

"If you're lucky enough to be at the beach, you're lucky enough."

For 4th of July weekend, we went to Lincoln City and rented a beach house. This is Natalie with Gavin - he's hanging ten.

It was nice and sunny two of the days we were there so we got to enjoy the beach, and on the cloudy days we shopped and went to movies and walked to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for gourmet caramel apples. This is me with mine - it's call the avalanche apple.

And we played games! I love games. We played Balderdash and Michelle's "Bowl Game." The funniest thing was watching Grandpa Dave giggle at his own Balderdash definitions - as he was writing them! We had a blast setting off illegal fireworks on the beach on Independence Day. Gary and some of the kids went down early and dug a sand pit so the wind wouldn't mess up our show, and they set off the little rockets before it even got dark. Thanks to Gary's sister who brought firewood, we built a bonfire and had s'mores. Here is Lucy, enjoying chocolate pudding on Rick's lap.

Then we set off the really big artillery shells. There were people on both sides of us up and down the beach setting off their fireworks, too, so we got a huge show. We could even see the city fireworks show from where we were. When most of it died down, Natalie and I went up to the house and sat in the hot tub. We could still see fireworks from there - it was awesome. We already reserved the same beach house for next year, and we're starting a special piggy bank for fireworks so we can outdo ourselves next time. I love the beach!
