Spencer got a scholarship!

Yesterday was an up and down day. I had to go to the dentist to get a "small" cavity filled that was in between two teeth that had old fillings in them. The dentist, whom I really do like, told me it would be a simple thing to take out the old fillings and put in the new "small" ones - I'd be in an out in about an hour. Well, to make a long story short, it took longer than that. My mouth was wide open for about an hour and a half - OUCH! I went straight home after my appointment to down some ibuprofen before the anesthetic wore off, but I stopped at my mailbox to see what treasures had arrived while I was being tortured. There was a letter from the BYU financial aid and scholarship office for Spencer. It was fat. I remember getting my scholarhip notice from BYU way back in the dark ages, and it was fat, too. Rejection letters are usually skinny. So I got really excited and ripped open the letter. Spencer has been awarded a Brigham Young Scholarship for Fall and Winter semesters - full tuition! All I could say was "Wow!" And then I said a grateful prayer. Spencer was so worried about not having money to go to school since he's going straight from his mission and won't have time earn any. I can't wait to talk to him this weekend (Mother's Day call) and tell him about this. Here are some recent photos of Spencer in Paraguay:

As you can see, Spencer is still a goofy kid who loves Star Wars. Another elder in the mission figured out how to make it look like they were using light sabers. Cool, huh?
