We had a great time in Utah for BYU Parents Weekend. Here we are at Brick Oven (we used to call it Heap's) having pizza. You can see my brown cow rootbeer freeze on the table - I had one at Aaron and Michelle's wedding luncheon in 2003 and had been waiting since then to have another one. On this trip we managed to hit all three of our favorite eating establishments - Brick Oven for pizza, Cafe Rio for the pork barbecoa, and Magleby's Fresh for all-you-can-eat french toast.

This is my sister-in-law Michelle and the cutest baby in the world, my nephew Gavin. We went to Aaron and Michelle's ward Friday night for a chili cookoff and Trunk or Treat. The chili was awesome - the one I chose won the "best overall" award. All the kids were adorable in their costumes, but I think our little monkey was the cutest!

We went to Spencer's Guarani Language and Culture class Friday afternoon and learned a little about the Guarani Indians of Paraguay. I picked up a phrase I liked. It is "che po'aka," (pronounced "shay po ah KAH"), and means "I am powerful." After class we saw this statue of Massasoit (not a Guarani Indian, but a brother from another tribal mother), so we took Spencer's picture with him.

Gary and I met at BYU twenty-five years ago. This is a shot of us on campus (dressed as old people for Halloween?)

The highlight of the weekend was the football game on Saturday between BYU and UNLV. It was a beautiful day, and I think our sweatshirts/outer layers came off some time in the first quarter. We all ended up with sunburns - but, since we sat in the North bleachers, we were only burned on our right sides! If you look closely at the first picture in this post, you may see Gary's sunglasses line - he looks like a raccoon. The hottest items from the concessions stand were ice cream and frozen lemonade. They sold out of both. We won the game 42-35, and I was delighted that we got to sing "Rise and Shout" with the band so many times. I love the band, and I still remembered all the words to the fight song. I challenged Spencer to learn them all before the end of the game, but he couldn't do it! The picture above is of Spencer (on the right) and his friend from the MTC, Dallas. We had fun teasing Dallas - calling him Houston, Waco, Austin, and Antonio. Below is a picture of me with my brother, Aaron. Go Cougars!
