Part-time Princess
I don't know about most of you, but when I was in high school, my first part-time job left a greasy smell in my hair. I worked at Church's Fried Chicken - until I found I could make more money and smell better giving piano lessons. Well, Natalie has found a job that fits her particular talents and doesn't involve deep fat fryers or an orange and brown uniform. She is a princess for hire. The lady who made her yellow Belle dress for Beauty and the Beast passed her name along to the owners of a new party store that specializes in princess parties for little girls. They hired Natalie to be Belle for their open house last month. Then, one of my friends, who frequently hires Natalie to babysit, hired her to be a princess at her daughter's birthday party. She told stories, sang princess songs, and posed for lots of pictures. Here are some of the pictures:
I am...
The crazy person who agreed to be the new accompanist for the high school choirs, a manic "Pushing Daisies" fan, an enthusiastic hunter of dead relatives and garage sale bargains (not to equate the two), a queasy Wii cow jockey, an unapologetic blogging addict, an epeolatress (look it up), and a super-duper substitute school secretary.

People say (and write) the funniest things...
One Autumn, just as the weather was starting to get nasty, the ladies in my kids' orthodontist's office sent an email to every patient detailing the office's policies in case of bad weather. But the words "bad weather" didn't sound eloquent enough for these ladies. No, they needed a particular word that would say "bad weather" all by itself. They knew they had heard a word like that, but what was it? I'm sure they thought about this for a while. Unfortunately they didn't consult a dictionary. The word they came up with was "inclimate." (That's not a word, in case you were wondering). The word they wanted was "inclement," meaning "severe, rough, or harsh; stormy." Dictionary.com is free, folks - use it!

Sure beats my Little Caesar's gig! She sure is a princess at heart. What a fun birthday party idea!
