College Road Trip

I haven't seen the movie, and I'm sure our trip wasn't as comical, but it was an adventure worth remembering. Here are the top ten things I learned on our college road trip:

10. There is such a thing as too much fast food.
9. I'm the only one who still thinks the ABC game is a fun car trip activity.
8. When musical tastes differ, peace is possible through negotiation - or everyone can listen to NOTHING - and like it.
7. The McDonald's in Yakima doesn't have the 4-piece McNugget meal on the dollar menu, and we are NOT happy about that.
6. A car-top carrier is wonderful for taking stuff to college, but if you let your husband load the car, he'll fill it with golf clubs.
5. My car will still go at least 500 yards when the gas guage says, "You're totally out of gas, you idiot."
4. There are no good restaurants ANYWHERE near the Motel 6 by the Boise airport.
3. It's a really good thing to have relatives in the same town where your child is going to college.
2. A teenage girl would rather lay in the sun and get a tan than shop for supplies for her brother's apartment.
1. College-age children don't want their mothers to walk them to school or take their picture outside the school on the first day like kindergarteners do.

You crack me up. You should write a book if you have not done so already. I love your blog. Take care Candice

Good list. Sounds like a fun time! I will say however, that it sounds like you are dealing with the same sibling issues with you adult/almost adult children as I am with my toddler/big kid children. Interesting.

Hey Carol, great top 10
-I'll play the ABC game with you, we still like it!
-It is also hard to find a good place to stay in Pendelton off the 1st exit
-And, eventhough he is 21 you can still coax him to at least let you take a picture infront of where he lives.

Funny woman! Tho not very smart to not ask your Boisean-BFF for places to eat near the airport, or tips on Yakima cuisine, or any of that. Dork! :o) I'll join in the ABC game, too - except I like to play it backwards as well. I've played it by myself on roadtrips with the kids, just to try and dirtact myself from their bikering! ha ha!
